Cash prizes were awarded to participants in the town’s 185th annivesary old time fiddling contest Saturday, Sept. 23 in Florence.
In the open class, top winners were Junior Marriott of Ava, first place; Cody Marriott, second; Tad Johnston of Nevada, third; and Elizabeth Kale, fourth.
In the senior category, Lynn Wells of Boonsboro took first place, Richard Harness of Stover placed second, and Gertrude Hunt of Sedalia placed third.
In the junior category, rankings were Tanner Marriott, first; Baylee Sidden of Holt, second; Preston Marriott, third; Makayla Byerley, fourth; and Billie Sidden, fifth.
Payouts in these three categories ranged from $100 for first place to $20 for fifth.
In the Peewee class, Riley Buttress of Summersville placed first, winning $35; Colton Buttress placed second, and Brody Buttress placed third, each winning $15.
Judges were Lynn Wells, Bill Shull of Warrensburg, Clifford Hill of Eldon, and Junior Marriott.
Accompanists were Cody Marriott, Junior Marriott, and Tad Johnston.
Cathy Marriott served as the emcee of the contest.
