A Labor Day “Boot Drive” raised $2,200 for Ivy Bend Fire and Rescue and was declared a success by organizers.
Ivy Bend fire reported in their meeting Wednesday, Sept. 6, personnel responded to 17 medical calls and one structure fire.
A 1979 Pierce Arrow fire truck and much needed bunker gear, boots, and a helmet were donated to Ivy Bend Fire and Rescue by the Carterville fire department.
A loan was approved by Citizens-Farmers Bank of Stover to purchase a 1983 Volvo 2,000-gallon engine. The unit has been picked up and demonstrated. The Stover fire department donated 1,000 feet of firehose for the truck.
Ivy Bend fire will be accepting bids for purchase until Oct. 1 on two vehicles: 1970 International pumper and a 1996 Ford BLS ambulance. Call Cory King 573-389-0660.
The next meeting of Ivy Bend Fire and Rescue is scheduled 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4 at Station No. 1 at Ivy Bend Road and Saw Mill Road.
