Daniel Joseph Jonson, 57, of Sedalia, formerly of Cole Camp, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at University Hospital in Columbia.
He was born Aug. 21, 1960, in Sedalia, a son of Albert and Georgia (Beck) Jonson.
He was raised in Cole Camp, spending most of his youth downtown at his parents’ businesses “The Keg” and “Chatter Box.” He graduated in 1978 from Cole Camp High School and attended State Fair Community College in Sedalia.
He worked for Ring Around Seed in Green Ridge, drove a dump truck, and was a salesman for West Side Auto, Stinger Sam’s, O’Reilly’s, and Western Auto, all in Sedalia, and for Cole Camp Auto Parts.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sedalia, Oak Hills Coon Club in Cole Camp, and Eagles Lodge No. 4826 of Lincoln, where he also served as chaplain.
He enjoyed going to swap meets, arm wrestling, shooting pool, and racing his 1970 Camaro.
He is survived by daughters Ana Johnson of Fortuna and Cassandra Fitzpatrick of Cole Camp; son Zach Jonson of Cole Camp; sister Dixie King of Lee’s Summit; a grandson; sisters-in-law Veronica Dieckman and Kandie Jonson; four nieces; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Don Jonson and Dave Jonson.
Graveside services were Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at Memorial Cemetery in Cole Camp, with Pastor Jason Veale officiating.
Memorial contributions were suggested to to the family in care of the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp.
