Dorothy Vanderhoof, 83, of Laurie, died Saturday, June 10, 2017, at her home.
She was born Dec. 26, 1933, to Byron and Viola Tuttle in Cook County, Ill.
The family moved to northern Wisconsin where she graduated high school as the valedictorian. She attended the University of Wisconsin in Minnesota and began teaching.
She married Calvin M. Vanderhoof June 5, 1954.
The couple began raising their children on the family farm and later moved back to Illinois. She moved to Missouri in 2008.
She is survived by children Calvin, Linda and husband John Schettko, Teresa Weiss, Viola and husband Hollis Bensley, Rita Christie, Monica and husband Pat Brice, Anita and husband Chris Ferino, Mike and wife Dawn Vanderhoof, Paul Vanderhoof, Harold and wife Bonnie Vanderhoof; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters Joan and husband Charles Barnes and Sue Vanderhoof; and brothers Eddie Tuttle and Jimmy Tuttle.
She was preceded in death by daughters Leslie and Mary; her parents; her husband; sister Ellen; and brothers John and Richard Tuttle.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 15, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie.
A Memorial Mass is scheduled 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 15, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie with Father John Schmitz celebrating.
Graveside services and inurnment will be at a later date.
Cremation arrangements under direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.
