Kevin Bates, 61, of Dayton, Ohio, died Saturday, June 10, 2017 at his home.
He was born July 3, 1955 in Versailles to Sterling Andrew and Jean Braden Bates.
He married Donna Snyder Aug. 12, 1989 in Stover. She survives at the home.
He worked as a maintenance supervisor for environmental services.
He was a musician, a Cardinals baseball fan, and enjoyed racing.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his mother; children and their spouses, Joe and Shannon Bates of Burlington, Iowa, Steven and Mary Bates of Columbia, Chuck and Jen Goode, Shannan and Allen Knopp, all of Farmer City, Ill., and Andrew Smock of Dayton, Ohio; brother Mark Bates and wife Maria of Columbia; sisters Tricia Boehlen of Tipton and Pamela Dehdashti and husband Hamid of Olathe, Kan.; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 17, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with the Rev. Dinzel Webb officiating.
Burial was in the Big Buffalo Cemetery. Joe Bates, Allen Knopp, Braden Boehlen, Chuck Goode, Mitchell Bates, and Nicholas Boehlen served as pallbearers. Eldon, Conrad, and Barry Braden, Henry Cable, Terry Newgaard, Ralph Henson, Rob Snyder, and Kelvin Boehlen were honorary pallbearers.
Memorial contributions were suggested to the Family of Kevin Bates’ Memorial Fund.
