The Stover volleyball team wraps up the regular season with a trip Thursday, Oct. 12 to Green Ridge for a Kaysinger Conference match.
The Lady Bulldogs were 5-16-1 and 2-6 in league play prior to matches against Versailles Monday, Oct. 9 and Lincoln Tuesday, Oct. 10.
The Lady Bulldogs had a tie and two losses at the 36th annual Versailles Invitational Saturday, Oct. 7 in Osage Beach.
Stover opened pool play with a 2-0 loss to California. Set scores were 25-12 and 25-17. They split with Marshall, winning the first set, 26-24, and losing the second, 25-16. Southern Boone defeated the Lady Bulldogs, 2-0, in their third match. Set scores were 25-12 and 25-23.
“Overall we had a good day,” coach Micah Uptegrove said. “We played schools two classes bigger than us and played them well. I was proud of my young teams effort and attitude.”
Sacred Heart 2 Stover 0
The Lady Bulldogs lost a Kaysinger Conference match to Sacred Heart, 2-0, Thursday, Oct. 5 in Sedalia. Set scores were 25-8 and 25-13.
Kaylan Black had two kills, one block and one service ace.
“We played them much better than last time,” Uptegrove said. “We had a lot of long rallies but could not finish.”
Cole Camp 2 Stover 0
Cole Camp defeated Stover, 2-0, in a conference match Tuesday, Oct. 3 in Stover. Set scores were 25-23 and 25-6.
Taylor Smith had five kills and two service aces for the Lady Bulldogs. Jenna Bellis and Kaylan Black had two kills each.
“We played great for one set then the wheels fell off,” Uptegrove said.
