Open House: Starting the year off right
Please join us for Open House 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20 at Morgan County R-I. This evening is a great way to start the year off by meeting the teachers, administrators, bus drivers, and the rest of the staff.
Elementary students grades PK through 6:
Besides meeting your teachers you may also bring your school supplies to your classroom. You may find where your room will be as well as where your specials will be held. Specials are art, music, physical education, and library.
During this time, you will also be able to sign up for the B.E.A.T. (after-school) program, which will begin Monday, Aug. 27. There are many programs available for students in grades 1 through 6.
New this year will be kindergarten orientation 5 to 5:30 p.m. in the elementary gym. During this time, Miss Roe, elementary principal, will go over procedures and information for these students.
There will also be a fifth- grade orientation 6 to 6:30 p.m. in the elementary gym. Miss Roe will also go over information and how the classroom schedule is different than the schedule in fourth-grade.
The bus drivers will be available for parents to talk to and for the students to meet. They will be located in the cafeteria.
High School students grades 7 through 12:
Open house is very important to the high school students also. At this time, they will receive their class schedule, get their locker assignment, visit their classrooms, and get reacquainted with old friends.
Schedules will be handed out in the cafeteria by the National Honor Society and members of this group will also give tours to new students. Locker assignments will be located on their schedules.
Also new in the high school will be seventh-grade orientation from 5 to 5:30 p.m. in the high school gym. At this time, parents and seventh-grade students will meet Mr. Marriott, high school principal; Mr. Pace, high school assistant principal; Mrs. Bashore, high school counselor; and other staff members. Mr. Marriott will go over important information to make this transition go smoothly.
A ninth-grade orientation is scheduled 6 p.m. that evening in the high school gym where Mr. Marriott will go over the same information to make the transition go smoothly.
The bus drivers will also be in the cafeteria so bus routes can be double checked.
Forms for signing up for the B.E.A.T program will also be available. B.E.A.T. begins Monday, Aug. 27.
Also in the cafeteria will be a display of all the organizations and clubs available for students in grades 7 through 12.
We hope you mark your calendar and start the new school year off by attending Open House 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20 at the Morgan County R-I School District in Stover.
